Vsetín is proud of its long sporting tradition. It is truly one of the towns to which the nickname SPORTS TOWN can be applied; not only because of Vsetín's current Sport Development Policy, but rather because nearly half of the town’s adult population takes part in regular sport activities. The town is a part of the National Network of Healthy Towns and is one of the most active. New modern children’s playgrounds are being built, it keeps its cycling paths well-maintained and you can find some interesting hiking trails and educational nature trails which start right in the centre of town. If you want to relax in the summer, you can take advantage of the swimming pool, play minigolf, squash, go play ball hockey or foot tennis, get some adrenaline at the skate park or through "motor" sports, at the soccer field or while doing Aikido. The winter stadium attracts it fans in the winter, as does the ski area and the well-kept beautiful paths for cross-country skiers. You can keep your body in shape all year round at the fitness centres or take advantage of the offers from other sports organizations.
Among the most prestigious sports activities that take place in Vsetín are the Würth - Partr Rally automobile championship of the Czech Republic, the Valašský Klobúk international hill climb challenge, the Austin Cup international foot tennis tournament, International Hiking Week in Vallachia and the Days of Mountain Biking in Vallachia.
